Dear Aldecha,
Rich De Vos, a visionary said “The only things that stand between a person and what they want in life are the will to try it and the faith to believe it’s possible.”  Today, as we kick off our celebration of National Direct Support Professional Appreciation Week, we pay deep honor, respect and admiration to all Direct Support Professionals who give of themselves each and every day to support a life of Possibilities for all those they support.  And today, we celebrate a very special Direct Support Professional, who demonstrates SPIN’s Pillars in all her actions and interactions.

On March 15, 2013, Aldecha Simpson joined our SPIN family and began making her mark with her special gifts and talents as she began supporting Connie and Janet while developing wonderful relationships with each of them.  Even though Connie and Janet have complex needs, Aldecha turns those challenges into opportunities to gain more knowledge and deeper trusting relationships.  You realize and demonstrate that one’s attitude not only impacts your personal happiness and success, but it also impacts the happiness and success of all the people around you! Attitudes are contagious and Aldecha, yours is surely catching!

Aldecha, your patience, grace and Can Do attitude ensures that the needs of the women are the priority and you will do whatever it takes to get this done! You plan meaningful days for the ladies filled with fun.  You share your ideas, opinions and feedback with your colleagues to be as proactive as possible and when challenges arise, our calm yet skilled approaches can turn the most difficult situation to one where Connie ns Janet feel safe and content.  Connie’s mom shares her high satisfaction and appreciation for your caring dedication as Mrs. Doughten witnesses the special relationship you and Connie have.  Of course, this is so important to a family member and can only increase the success of people being happy, healthy and safe.

You know that the women feel their best when they look their best – Don’t all women! You found a local hairstylist who is extremely patient and kind with Connie and Janet.  You supported Connie in getting a new look – a shorter “Do” which Connie loves to show off Janet loves her new style especially with her new summer dresses that you assisted her in choosing when on her latest shopping spree.

Christina Winokur, your Assisting Director and nominator states that she has told you on many occasions that she wishes she had you in every home as she is certain that you can and do change lives. Aldecha, your brilliant smile and positive attitude radiates and touches everyone.  You are a true example of someone who is living SPIN’s Pillars throughout your work activities.  Your people first approach in all interactions is wonderful to witness and your attention to detail and professional approach have raised the bar. You have contributed greatly to the mission of SPIN.   No doubt, your hard work and dedication is recognized by all.
