When I read the nomination letters for the month of June, I knew
that the competition for Employee of the Month was at an all time
high. Whoever emerged as the winner was sure to be "the tops"!
Probably no one is surprised that it was you.
Supporting Michael and Barney at their Dungan Road home is no piece
of cake but everyone who works with you to support these men agrees
that you are "awesome". One parent says that you are one of the
best staff ever for supporting her son's needs. Morgan Consigny,
your supervisor, agrees.
You lead by example. You learn and carry out strategies to support
the men. Their challenging behaviors are significantly reduced;
they are eating better and participating in their community.
Michael exercises by swimming regularly and Barney learned to do
"The Wave" at a Sixers game. And next Halloween, I'm coming over to
see the guys dressed up and giving out treats to the neighborhood
children.
You are also a role model for other staff. You stay late if needed;
you pick up extra shifts to limit environmental changes that can
trigger challenging behaviors and you willingly rotate your
schedule to accommodate the needs of both Barney and Michael. You
lead house meetings and sometimes provide training to staff. You
recently took classes on Autism and then shared what you learned
with your colleagues. Your philosophy seems to be "Anything is
possible and almost everything is worth a try". With this approach
everyone is a winner.
So it is my pleasure to present you with the Employee of the Month
award and to thank you on behalf of the Board of Directors, your
fellow employees and Barney and Michael for all that you do. You
are an inspiration to all.
Sincerely,
Trina Losinno
Executive Director
