Barbara Dixon
Jan 1, 2008
I have read Gene Wellenreiter's nomination letter a dozen times
and I can't say it better or in any other words, so I'm going to
quote the entire letter:
"When one thinks of a nurse they think of someone who has the
ability to be caring and compassionate, someone to lean upon or
listen to in times of stress or illness. You want someone that will
help you discover the path you need to take on the way to recovery
or help you be in the best possible health. Additionally, you want
your nurse to teach you, to act like a professional, to be
understanding and be well versed in their role and responsibilities
as a nurse.
Barbara Dixon is all of these things and so much more. She
understands, embodies and lives the agency's mission, code of
ethics and values. With each of her daily interactions, you are
able to see the qualities that make her an expert in the field of
nursing. Barb is driven by her love for her profession and for
those that she cares for. There is no task that is above or below
her and she continually accepts and embraces new challenges and
responsibilities.
Eleven years ago Barbara Dixon began her journey at SPIN as an LPN,
supporting one very medically fragile person in his home.
Throughout Barb's journey she has seen, participated in and
spearheaded many changes. These changes include things that
directly affect her, those she supports as well as peers and
leaders. Today, Barb's role is very different as she no longer
supports one person. She now has 20 people on her caseload and
endlessly continues to support her peers, friends and fellow
co-workers."
The only thing I can add is that you also have a beautiful and
comforting smile.
So it is my honor to present you with the Employee of the Month
Award. On behalf of the Board of Directors, your fellow employees
and all of the individuals that you support, I thank you for
sharing your personal and professional talents and the treasure of
your friendship with us.
Sincerely,
Trina Losinno
Executive Director
