Dear Bill

Feeding a family a full day of nutritional foods for breakfast, lunch and snack can be daunting and overwhelming for most of us. It is a huge responsibility to assure that our own children experience this focused nutritional approach.  Now think of yourself planning, cooking and assuring the nutritional outcomes for 120 children!  Now we are sweating! But for our “Mr. Bill”, it’s a piece of cake (well maybe a piece of fruit!).

It was SPIN’s lucky day on August 27, 2015 when Bill Schultz walked through the doors right when we needed him most! And by the way, the person who referred him for the job was a pretty reliable source! We were getting ready to open SPIN’s newest PreK Center, Parkwood, or so we thought! Bill was hired and unfortunately there was a Budget impasse that we hoped would not last long, well eight months later…  Bill, your kind heart and flexibility was exactly what we needed and you lent your skills, gifts and talents to the Frankford team as we waited (impatiently!).  On March 15, 2016, SPIN Parkwood opened its doors and “Mr. Bill” has been the heart and soul of our kitchen.

Bill, it is so easy to see how you live SPIN’s Pillars in all of your actions and interactions. Your People First approaches are felt by every child through your kind and caring work as well as your intention for all children to be as heathy as possible.  Your Professionalism is an example to all. You collaborate with all stakeholders, your teamwork contributes to Parkwood’s overall success.

Bill, your qualifications are critically important to our high quality service holding a ServeSafe Certification and following best practices so all children can participate in the Child and Adult Food Care Program.  You assure all of the needed supplies are in stock for the meals to be served, from paper product and utensils, to items served for afternoon snack.  In addition, your work with our vendors to order the food and beverages so the children are served the correct nutritional components for each meal is so greatly valued and appreciated.

Bill, your nominating fan club of SPIN Parkwood managers said “From meal prep to clean up, Bill is always on top of the needs for the program.  Bill’s preparation assures that everything runs smoothly in the morning for the classrooms, as he makes sure all the components for the breakfast are ready for the classroom team to serve the children in the morning.  A typical day is non-stop as Bill arrives, he cleans up breakfast and gets ready to prepare for lunch, then as soon as he cleans up lunch, he is preparing afternoon snack.  Talk about busy! In addition, Bill monitors allergies, portions, plus disinfects and sanitizes the kitchen and supplies.   Along with doing all the tasks associated with his job in the kitchen, he assures he says hello to all children at least two to three times a day!  They all know Mr. Bill is responsible for insuring they receive their meals.  They love yelling “Hi Mr. Bill” down the hallway! The families are very appreciative of Bill’s work and also greet him with warm smiles! Bill is our host, sous chef, and dish washer: addressing all of our programs needs from soup to nuts! Oh no, we don't serve nuts! But Bill knows that, LOL!

Bill, your diligence is witnessed, valued and appreciated by all!  You are a VIP for so many reasons and this status is known to every Parkwood child, parent and SPIN employee.  On behalf of the SPIN Corporate Board, SPIN managers, your colleagues and most importantly the children and families, we congratulate you on this most deserving Employee of the Month Award for December, 2016. Mr. Bill, thank you for providing food for the soul and supporting a life of possibilities all along the way!

With Deepest Congratulations and Appreciation,
