Though you have only been at SPIN, Inc. for a short period of
time, you seem to have grasped and implemented the most important
strategy for supporting people… figure out what it is they want and
help them get it. That sounds easy but sometimes even the most
obvious has a way of eluding us.
Paul Taggart has been a mystery to many over many years.
Determining what he wants and needs has often been impossible even
for his mom and dad who loved him deeply. You have looked at Paul
with "new eyes" and are providing the support he needs to eat and
sleep better, to have more energy and to begin venturing out of his
home to visit other people and places.
On the first day as Home Life Coordinator you expressed to Frank
Margerum that you were concerned about Paul's diet and went about
providing fresh fruits and vegetables, and limiting fried foods.
Paul seems to appreciate your efforts; he is looking good and
smiles more. Despite his historical preference for not getting off
the van while in the community, you decided it was time that Paul
broaden his horizons and to make a long story short, he is visiting
the nurses at 10501 Drummond Road on a regular basis. He greets
everyone, smiles and stays relaxed. There are some who would call
this a miracle! But we know that it is more the right time, the
right strategies and the relationship of trust that you have built
with Paul.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, your fellow employees, Mr. and
Mrs. Taggart and Paul, I honor you as Employee of the Month and
thank you for bringing to Paul another opportunity to have an
enriched life. It isn't easy but those smiles are so
rewarding.
Sincerely,
Trina Losinno
Executive Director
