Dear Dee,

How many of us have made a Promise?  Promises are important parts of our lives! We learned early on that Promises are made for keeping! I remember when I was young making a “Pinky Swear Promise”; that was a huge commitment, the kind that really mattered!

Promises are something that requires investment, responsibility, accountability and true belief. This takes great integrity and conviction. In 2003, SPIN hired a Bookkeeper in its Finance Department and knew that we had found an employee of great caliber.  From that day on, today’s Employee of the Month has demonstrated these incredible qualities on a daily basis, a real example of SPIN”s Pillars in action. Immediately, we saw this promise in Dee McGowan and of course Dee soured to great heights. Dee McGowan Promises her top performance each and every day to assure and ensure SPIN’s critical and successful priority goal of billing in her role as Senior Revenue Analyst.

Dee, on a weekly basis, you bill PROMISe for all of SPIN’s Office of Developmental Program services. This requires your intense follow along with program managers to ensure billing reports are submitted and we can bill timely to ensure our organizational cash flow. You make sure that all managers have the knowledge and skills to complete this task with urgency and detail. You  submit the billing and review it to investigate any issues that may arise all the while you care deeply about the people we support and demonstrate people first approaches in all that you do.  One such example is your people first communication with all stakeholders if someone may be losing their waiver.  You are always a step ahead leading your ODP billing team colleagues to reconcile weekly and to be in full knowledge where SPIN stands with our billing. In challenging financial times, you ensure, as Marcia said, “that no penny is left behind.”

You maintain our HCSIS data base and submit all applications to ODP Provider Enrollment for all of our service locations. This is no small feat! Most recently, SPIN needed to submit over 150 re-validation applications for a March 24, 2016 deadline.  You took hold of this challenge and submitted them all, starting last January 2015 and kept SPIN on schedule with this daunting task. Productivity was paramount in this challenge. The tracking and follow up on these applications was tremendous. Your diligence in your communication with ODP enabled SPIN to be on track.

Marcia Giarratano, your Supervisor and Nominator said in her nomination that “Dee’s track record placed her at the top of the leader board in system transformation and therefore, it was an easy decision that Dee would be an integral team member as we convert from the Total Record System to Evolv. She shares information and works with the team to explore innovative ways to increase efficiencies. Dee’s professionalism is apparent in how quickly she responds to new instructions, situations and procedures both internal to SPIN and from outside contacts/systems.”

Dee, you continuously demonstrate an “all in”, true team player approach.  Your colleagues agree that you go above and beyond to achieve departmental and organizational outcomes and you do so with flexibility and a true caring approach.  Without a doubt, you are a respected leader and co-worker across the organization.

Dee, your expert knowledge and skills, your collaboration and teamwork, your commitment to SPIN’s mission stands out and is an example to all.

On behalf of the SPIN Corporate Board, your SPIN colleague fan club and the countless people and families you support, we recognize, appreciate and congratulate you as you are so deserving of this recognition of Employee of the month for March, 2016.  You truly live SPIN’s Pillars by demonstrating each and every day what it means to be a top performing employee at SPIN.  And most importantly, thank you for your hard work, dedication and Promises that have supported so many to live a life of possibilities. I pinky swear that we value you, appreciate you and can’t thank you enough for all you do and all you are.

With Deep Appreciation and Congratulations,

Judith Dotzman
Executive Director
