Dear Ethelinda,

On November 11, 1996, the SPIN family opened its doors and its arms to welcome and include a special new Right Fit member. Yes, over 17 years ago SPIN didn’t know the gem that had graced our residential services but SPIN had certainly become brighter when Ethelinda Felder’s light shined upon us.  Ethelinda, through your passionate dedication and outcome achievement, we learned very quickly that the Stars Come out at Night! Right from the start, your deep commitment and investment in the individualized needs of the people you support is an example to all! 

 As a high performance Direct Support Professional, you consistently demonstrate SPIN’s mission and four Pillars in all your communication and action.  You deeply reflect respect for everyone’s uniqueness and support people to seek opportunities and reach their highest potential as you believe in the power of possibility.  And, most importantly, you deliver exceptional results!

Alvina Smith detailed in her nomination letter your highlights in each of SPIN’s Pillars. Your People First caring approach provides individualized support to Sharon, Lois and Denise, ensuring that each of the women’s preferences are known and understood.   Your calm and pleasant qualities offer a positive environment that promotes strong and effective relationships with all the women, your colleagues and all team members.  The women have benefitted from your skills and talents as you support them to live a healthy lifestyle thereby having the best possible health. 

Over your 17 year career at SPIN, you have demonstrated steadfast leadership and Professionalism.  Your positive and thorough communication reflects SPIN’s culture of deep respect.  You have taught internal and external stakeholders that SPIN employees are exceptional and produce exceptional outcomes. 

Your commitment to Performance Excellence is seen all that you do. The women’s home is organized and beats the white glove test! A healthy home is clean and safe and filled with joy; your determined work achieves this result as you go above and beyond your job accountabilities.   You are hardworking and a person of great integrity, highly driven for performance excellence and have a thirst for learning.
Ethelinda, your quality of work meets our highest standard and therefore you are highly Productive. Your attention to detail is a model to all.  When Lois moved in to the Grant Street home you supported her transition and ensured her successful inclusion. As well, you only expect the most from yourself, the women and your colleagues.  Your documentation is utilized to teach and train new team members on how to meet and exceed expectations. 

So, on behalf of the SPIN Corporate Board, SPIN Management team, your fellow colleagues, and most importantly, Sharon, Lois and Denise, and their families, we recognize and appreciate your excellence.  It is my privilege to recognize you as a most deserving selection of April 2014 Employee of the Month. 
Ethelinda,  your example of living SPIN’s Pillars,  leads all of us to work harder, care more,  teach more, laugh and smile more and be more tomorrow than we are today. You live this every day and we can’t thank you enough for creating and supporting Sharon, Lois and Denise to live a life of possibilities. The Stars certainly do come out at night and you make them shine even more brightly by making a difference through your actions, leading by example and motivating us all to raise the bar.
