Dear Greg,

For almost 45 years, SPIN has been a mission based, values led organization that has delivered outcomes that have changed people’s lives. The quote that guided SPIN’s founders and has united us in past, present and future certainly has been Goethe’s humble and powerful words, "Treat people as if they were what they ought to be, and you help them to become what they are capable of being". Goethe, a quiet leader teaches and empowers us to stay true to our course and Greg, it is through your quiet, yet trusted leadership that we see these amazing words come to life.

Greg, I can remember the very first day that Kathy and I met you. It was over two years ago and it was our first day of spending time with the team from Lehigh Community Supports.  Your thirteen years of experience with Lehigh Community Supports shined through.  We marveled at your relationship with Danny, your belief and investment in him, your advocation for him.  You didn’t do things for him, you didn’t make it easy for him, you motivated him, you stretched him, and you admired him for all that he taught you along the way.

From that very first moment of having the privilege of seeing your caring, competent action and interaction, we knew that we were in the presence of a top quality, outstanding Direct Support Professional, one that we would be more than fortunate to work with at SPIN.  We were more than pleased and proud that you transitioned your employment to SPIN on July 1, 2013 and now you are an invaluable member of the SPIN Lehigh team supporting many more people to achieve their personal outcomes, especially including Tommy, Kyle and Paul!

Greg, your gifts and talents exude as you consistently share your genuine care and concern, devotion to everyone and everything, high skills and competencies and organized, focused engagement.  You share yourself in every giving action.  As the highest quality Direct Support Professional, you set the bar for the true application of SPIN’s Pillars as your People First, Professional, Performance Excellence and Productivity everyday activities clearly demonstrate their essence.

Jenifer Schaadt, your supervisor and nominator, wrote so eloquently that “Greg’s commitment to the individuals he supports is extraordinary.  He forms amazing and meaningful relationships with each individual and their families. I have heard often from families who express their appreciation because of Greg’s level of professionalism and the respect that he demonstrates in his work every day. He consistently goes above and beyond the expectations of his role to ensure a life of possibilities for each individual that he supports. He has given the gift of communication to individuals who had little or no formal communication. Greg gave them a voice by teaching them to communicate using augmentative and alternative methods. This commitment to best practices and people first approaches has made it possible to create meaningful days built upon each person’s interests.  Greg’s “all in” attitude each and every day has created a culture that allows a “life of possibilities” for all people.

Greg, we have had individuals and families seek out our services because they observed you in the community with people you support on a daily basis. Your passion for creating a world that is truly inclusive has made an impact with the community  including business owners and companies who have opened their doors to provide new experiences for the individuals at SPIN because of your belief in all that is possible for everyone and that people are relevant in their community.

Greg, your example of living SPIN’s Pillars,  leads all of us to work harder, care more,  teach more, laugh and smile more and be more tomorrow than we are today. On behalf of the SPIN Corporate Board, SPIN Management Team, your fellow colleagues, the people we support and their families, we recognize and appreciate your excellence.  I am certain that Danny would say to you today that you are not only a top performing SPIN employee but most importantly, you are a person of the highest integrity and honor.

It is my privilege to recognize you as a most deserving selection of Employee of the Month for October 2014. We thank you for treating everyone as they ought to be and helping them to become what they are capable of being.

With deepest congratulations and appreciation,

Judith R. Dotzman
