Dear Jen,

December 2, 2005 was SPIN’s lucky day as we were so very fortunate that you joined our team and immediately began sharing your heart and soul with everyone and everything that you do.   From your very first day, it was easy for us all to see your passionate dedication, talents and skills and therefore your journey here at SPIN has included great growth and development.  From a Direct Support Professional to Program Specialist, you impressed everyone along the way.  After reading your three page nomination letter, I wondered what I could possibly add beyond the incredible testimony provided by the pooled nomination from the boasting Assisting Directors of Residential Services. I realized that the words of your proud team capture it vividly. I have pulled out some of the essence of your worthiness of this award.  So here you go.

Alvina Smith shared that you are effective at your job and are genuinely concerned about every detail of each individual you support including their family relationships, social capital and wellness. Janice Mongon stated people feel important in your presence.  Jen Williams highlighted your valuable insight and imagination and your critical role as a member of SPIN's ACT (Augmentative Communication Team) and EMT (Emergency Management Team).  She is extremely knowledgeable about the individuals on her caseload which proved extensive at JR's Communication Support Session this past month. Jen recently devised a visual replica to educate hearing impaired individuals about bed vibrators during fire drills or emergencies- constructing a multi dimensional interactive diorama. You also recently contributed to the compiling of a new healthy grocery list draft to support DSPs and individuals alike to make healthier life choices while shopping.  Wanda Steele recognized that you extend yourself to individuals and staff to ensure that outcomes are met by researching activities, sharing the information and often going on the outing. Leticia Smith touted your strong work ethic as you get the job done with great detail and care. Jill Hoeffler and Donna Bernstein affirmed that although you have a challenging caseload you take personal interest and investment in each and every one that you support.  In addition, Kim Williams and Kate Soda implored that you embody SPIN’s vision, mission and values in all that you do.

WOW! And that’s just the cliff notes!

Jen, what I can add is that I had the privilege of sharing time with you recently at Art and Bill’s home as you reviewed their ISPs with the support staff team.  I marveled at your knowledge of the men, your enthusiasm and your engagement of the team, stretching them to increase their comfort zone and try new activities with them.  Of course, you shared that you would be right there with them every step of the way! What was so clearly obvious to me was that you are living SPIN’s Pillars through every one of your words and actions while motivating and supporting people to believe in themselves and achieve their personal outcomes.

Your bright spirit leaves a trail everywhere.  All I have to do is ask your fan club that just keeps growing and growing!

Jen, On behalf of SPIN’s Corporate Board, SPIN’s Management Team, your colleagues, the countless people you support, I congratulate you on this most deserving Employee of the Month Award for April, 2012. We thank you and are so proud of you for demonstrating the gold standard of supporting people to live a life of possibilities.

Sincerely,

Judith R. Dotzman
