When I was a new teacher, someone told me that I needed to make
friends with the school secretary and custodian as they were the
most important people in the building. Well, I thought teachers
were until the first time a child lost his lunch in my classroom. I
learned that indeed the people behind the scenes are critical to
the smooth running of a school… or a community center.
Last month, when one of the Norcom Community Center custodians was
on jury duty for four weeks, David Miazio was sure that if he had
any hair he'd surely lose it during this time. Keeping NCC clean is
a customer satisfaction issue and while not many members talk about
how clean the center is just let there be dust and everyone has
something bad to say about it.
So you can imagine how grateful Dave and the NCC staff are to you
for stepping in to help out. Every afternoon you went over and did
all the things that are so often taken for granted. Cleaning
bathrooms, vacuuming the rugs, mopping up the cafeteria floor,
emptying the trash and generally getting everything in shape for
the evening sessions and setting up meeting rooms for the next day
are all things you just do with your pleasant "no problem"
attitude. But as Dave said in his nomination letter, he was never
so relieved as when you walked in the door each afternoon. Just to
know that you were there, you would do a great job and NCC would
remain a nice clean community center for people to enjoy was worth
your weight in gold.
So, it is my pleasure to honor you today as Employee of the Month
and to thank you on behalf of the Board of Directors, your fellow
employees and everyone who uses the Norcom Center each day. You are
truly one of the unsung heroes of the agency and one who
understands the importance of teamwork and caring about SPIN.
Sincerely,
Trina Losinno, Executive Director
