Dear Kevin,

I thought that I had seen all of Walt Disney’s famous quotes and also used them at one time or another in one of my Employee of the Month letters; but to my surprise and great joy, I found one I didn’t know. And oh how perfect this quote is to describe SPIN’s desire for growth, development and change and how perfect this quote is to recognize you Kevin and your incredible skills, gifts, talents and the belief in all that is possible for everyone. “Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious… and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” — Walt Disney

See what I mean, perfect! From the first day in January, 2013 that you walked into SPIN and most importantly into 9214 Cottage Street you have made a huge impact in the lives of Danny, Marty and their families, demonstrating SPIN’s Pillars in all your actions and interactions.  Immediately, you took precious time to get to know these men, to assure that they participate in the activities they love and to challenge them to try new and exciting opportunities! Your People First dedication is filled with the utmost respect and dignity and not to mention a whole lot of fun! Whether it is taking Marty to get some of his favorite vinyl’s, getting Danny and Marty competing in a big bowling match or just relaxing on their porch conversing with neighbors, you engage the guys in a holistic life. 

Kevin, your Professionalism is an example to all. Your colleagues are inspired and appreciate your leadership and your respectful communication with everyone is especially noted.  You understand and demonstrate the successful elements of true team work.  You were recognized by your team as one of our first SPIN Champions due to your excellence.

Michael Cole, your supervisor and proud nominator boasted about your gifts and talents.  In his nomination letter Michael wrote “Productivity is engrained in Kevin’s nature.  He isn’t afraid to use a little muscle in putting together some great projects for the home. Kevin straps up the boots and gets dirty in the garden. He purchased “Gardening for Dummies” when conceiving this project; but let’s make it clear that Kevin is no dummy. Kevin never created a garden before, but was happy to go for it anyway, knowing it would be a great project for the guys. At a team meeting a few weeks ago, someone mentioned that we should get some stepping stones for the guys’ safety out back. I could only fit a few of these stones in my car, so Kevin made sure he had his truck.  Danny and Marty enjoyed helping with the project. Due in large part to Kevin’s initiative and follow-through, the backyard has been transformed to a Secret Garden! Danny and Marty really enjoy catching some shade in their back yard as well as the back patio.”  

Kevin, you not only inspire the guys; you also inspire your teammates.  This is a true indicator of performance excellence – as you have set the quality bar high and others rise to your standard, developing great ideas such as planning exciting outings and trips for the guys, hosting a Barbeque for the upcoming holiday weekend with friends and family and providing ongoing caring, quality support.  

On behalf of the SPIN Corporate Board, SPIN Management team, your colleagues and most importantly Danny, Marty and their families, we recognize you on this most deserving Employee of the Month Award for May, 2016.  Kevin, we thank goodness just like Walt Disney that around here you don’t look backwards for very long.
