Dear Nina,

Misty Copeland, an American Ballet Dancer said “Be strong, be fearless, be beautiful. And believe that anything is possible when you have the right people there to support you.”

There are times in our lives when we truly need someone to listen to us, someone to be in our corner. When a SPIN employee needs this kind of support, they often turn to our incredible Human Resource Team. And the Benefits Team is right there for our employees to guide them through the challenging navigation when they need it the most.

Imagine you have just learned that you will need to miss some time from work for an unexpected reason. Your mind begins to race- what will happen to my job? How will I get paid? Who will help me through this process? Luckily for SPIN, the calm and reassuring answer to many of those questions comes from Benefits Specialist, Nina Wieler,

Nina, you became part of the SPIN’s Human Resource Team in May 2016 and you have been demonstrating SPIN’s Pillars in your actions and interactions right from the start!   You began sharing and spreading your gifts and talents with all of us as you demonstrated your immediate commitment to SPIN’s mission.  Your high level of people first support, professionalism,   performance excellence and productivity through your dedication to employees is appreciated by all.

Your supervisor and nominator, Lauren Veitz shared in her nomination letter so many of the reasons why you are deserving of this award.   So here goes…

“As a Benefits Specialist, Nina’s primary responsibility is to facilitate all types of employee leaves, including the Family and Medical Leave Act and disability programs for SPIN employees.  Nina treats every employee as an individual, and regularly goes above and beyond for those who are experiencing medical conditions and other important situations that require both emotional and administrative support. Nina excels at keeping a steady stream of open communication with employees while also handling all of the behind-the-scenes aspects of their leave- coordinating leave time payments with Payroll, ensuring compliance with training before returning to work, and her daily phone calls and emails to SPIN’s insurance vendors to ensure accuracy and timeliness in the processing of employee disability claims. In addition, Nina supports all other areas of employee benefits and lent her talents to the 2017 Benefits Bash events, the annual audit processes, and the EAP awareness campaign. Nina has the opportunity to support nearly all of SPIN’s employees in her role, and while that task can often require some juggling, Nina knows how to prioritize her work so that the needs of each employee are met and cared for as if they were the only employee who needs her assistance. I am personally grateful for the customer service excellence Nina gives to the SPIN family in the form of TLC: “Thorough, Likeable, and Customer Service”. J

Nina, you BENEFIT all of us through your special people skills.
