Patsy Wallace

Nov 8, 2013

Dear Patsy,

The month of November is special for many reasons but especially because we have the opportunity to share the essence of the holiday of Thanksgiving and provide our deep appreciation to those who give of themselves to make a difference in people’s lives. This November is no different in fact today we extend special recognition to someone who defines People First support in every word and action.

Patsy Wallace joined SPIN on September 20, 2002. As luck would have it, she landed at Ripley and began providing individualized supports to Sheila, Betty Ann, and Nancy.  Patsy, your impact was recognized immediately and your commitment to these three women has stood the test of time. After moving to Watson Street in 2008, you followed the women and have dedicated your time, treasure and talent for the past 11 years.  You have a special relationship with each woman capitalizing on each of their interests, strengths, goals and dreams. Whether in the home or in the community, you support each of the ladies to develop hobbies of their own, and demonstrate their relevance in the community.

Patsy, your colleagues of team Watson are drawn to your charismatic, magnetic personality and therefore love being with you. Not only are you well liked but you are highly regarded and respected by everyone you interact with. People who meet you for the first time say that you leave a lasting positive, welcoming impression and people can’t wait to spend time with you again.

Patsy, from the time you began at SPIN you have understood and demonstrated SPIN’s mission of inclusion in your actions. You have a deep concern for everyone and you extend yourself whenever possible. Your vigilance of health and safety for each of the women is exemplary. Patsy your focused attention, and effective documentation and communication are critical continuous quality improvement measures and strategies. You paint a beautiful, detailed picture with your words to describe the day and the reviewer can see themselves right there with you.

Wanda Steele, your supervisor and nominator brags that she can count on your continuous thoroughness and leadership within the Watson Team. This partnership enables the Watson team   to work collaboratively to support the women to achieve their personal outcomes.

One great example is your urgent priority of nutrition and wellness. You prepare healthy meals for the ladies and you engage the ladies to eat family style meals and they look forward to this time together.

It is well known that SPIN’s Direct Support Professionals are nationally recognized for their personal and professional investment and commitment.  SPIN’s workforce is second to none.  Patsy, your outstanding example of SPIN’s Pillars is an inspiration to us all and challenges all of us to be fully engaged in all that we do.

Patsy, on behalf of the SPIN Corporate Board, SPIN managers, your fellow colleagues, and most importantly, Sheila, Betty Ann, and Nancy, we are so very proud of you and congratulate you on this most deserving Employee of the Month Award for October, 2013.  During this Thanksgiving season, we celebrate joy and thankfulness.  Due to your commitment to excellence, we have so much more to be thankful for.

With deep appreciation and recognition,

Judith Dotzman
