In recognition of Autism Awareness Month, Robert Naseef, Ph.D., a local psychologist, author, and parent of a young man with Autism launched his new book, Autism in the Family:  Caring & Coping Together with a lecture at SPIN’s Norcom Community Center on Wednesday evening, April 3rd.  Dr. Naseef is a well regarded figure in the city’s autism community and is widely recognized as one who engages parents easily, particularly fathers.  Dr. Naseef gave a brief talk about his book, highlighting his journey toward acceptance as a parent facing the diagnosis of Autism in his only son.  A Question and Answer session facilitated by Annemarie Clarke, Ph.D., SPIN’s Corporate Officer for Behavioral & Developmental Services followed, as well as a book signing.  Families and professionals were offered an informal opportunity to network, discuss SPIN’s expanding services for children with Autism and their families through SPIN-NET PACE (Philadelphia Autism Center for Excellence).  Over 65 people were in attendance.  SPIN thanks Dr. Naseef for sharing his time and talent with our community, and especially recognizes Dr. Naseef for donating the profit from the book sales to SPIN.

Stay tuned for more events, including the SPIN-NET PACE upcoming Flapjack fundraiser on May 3rd at Applebee’s on Roosevelt Boulevard.  For more information about SPIN-NET PACE, please call 215-612-7625.
