Calls to your Legislator Make a Difference

2012-05-01T00:00:00

phone01Thank you to everyone who called Governor Corbett’s office to voice their concern about the drastic cut to funding for services to people with intellectual disabilities. Many people shared their feedback by stating that it was a good feeling to get involved.

Your next step is to contact your legislators (Today, Tuesday, May 1st) to let them know you are their constituent and to share the message that SPIN’s services have suffered cuts and we need to stop further cuts planned for next year.

This is the link to “click on” -      The Pennsylvania General Assembly - Find Your Legislator

  • After you determine your legislator (PA State Representative and PA State Senator) click on their name and you will be able to access their phone number.

What we are asking you to do:

  • Join with your fellow SPIN colleagues, self-advocates, families, Board members and other stakeholders across the Commonwealth to advocate on behalf of individuals with intellectual, disabilities and autism so the budget will not be cut again next year (The new budget goes into effect on 7/1/12).
  • Call your legislators to ask for their help in restoring proposed cuts that will directly affect families who have sons and daughters with intellectual disabilities and autism.

  • The link to locate your legislator is very easy is to accessall that you need is your address – if you do not live in Pennsylvania you can use SPIN’s address  - SPIN Northeast: 10501 Drummond Road, 19154 , SPIN Frankford: 1616 Orthodox Street, 19124, SPIN West: 820 East Vernon Road, 19119

Thank you for your help on this and for all you do to create a life of possibilities for children and adults with intellectual, developmental and autism spectrum disabilities.

Thank you, Bernice McHale
