National DSP Recognition Week - Approved by Resolution of Congress!

U.S. Senate Passes Direct Support Professional Recognition Week Resolution Honors Frontline Workers Who Support People with Disabilities - ANCOR

Alexandria, VA – ANCOR is pleased to announce that members of the U.S. Senate, led by U.S. Senators Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Susan Collins (R-ME), introduced a resolution designating the week beginning September 11th as "National Direct Support Professional Recognition Week." This year's resolution marks the ninth consecutive year of recognition by the U.S. Senate for this essential workforce.   "We are so grateful for the leadership of Senators Cardin and Collins in recognizing the men and women who are the hands and hearts of community services to people with disabilities," noted Barbara Merrill, ANCOR CEO. "This acknowledgment by the Senate is significant to ANCOR's National Advocacy Campaign, whose mission it is to enhance the lives of all people with disabilities who rely on long-term supports and services by obtaining the resources to recruit, train and retain a highly qualified and sustainable workforce."   To date, governors in 40 states have also recognized the week of September 11-17th as DSP Recognition Week.
