Governor Corbett visit to SPIN’s Norcom Community Center
Governor Corbett visited SPIN’s Norcom Community Center on Tuesday December 3rd and renewed his commitment to supporting people with disabilities and their families who are on the Waiting List. After a private meeting with SPIN’s CEO and Executive Director and a tour of services provided at SPIN’s Norcom Center, the Governor was greeted by an auditorium packed with self advocates, families, advocates, Legislators, other leaders in our field, SPIN staff and SPIN Board members. SPIN Choir sang a rousing, inspirational rendition of “Proud to be an American” which the Governor absolutely loved!
The Governor then heard the touching stories of two families before addressing the audience and proclaiming his support for services for people with disabilities. After his remarks, we presented the Governor with a gift of art painted by an NCC participant and a piece of pottery made by Frank Hohenstein, a SPIN Direct Support Professional. Today SPIN made an impact with its message to the Governor. We asked for his help and he certainly heard us! We will keep everyone informed of all progress that is made as a result.
