IMPORTANT SPIN iPhone EMAIL UPDATE

6b9ac70f24529656c3d454cb1ad242a1

Employees who took the action outlined below experienced conflicts between the original and the manual email configurations on their phone, and unfortunately the employee does not have the ability to remove the original configuration.  Two options are suggested:

  1. Setup the email configuration manually today and then email IT (spinitstaff@spininc.org).  We’ll then remotely remove the original configuration and any conflicts will be eliminated.
  2. Wait until we remove the software between 9-11 AM tomorrow morning and then manually setup your email.  Because the original will be gone there is no chance on conflict between the original and manual configurations.

Manual Email Configuration Instructions

Hi all, The following message is intended for employees using a SPIN issued iPhone only.

Please take the time to manually setup your Spin email on your iPhone by Friday 8/5 at 9am.

Why we are doing this: We are switching to a new Mobile Device Management software for all SPIN issued iPhones in favor a new Microsoft software that has been added to our Email server at no additional cost. This approach will save SPIN $20,000 annually.

How is my SPIN email involved in this software? Your existing email configuration was pushed out with the existing Mobile Management software and will be removed when we undo the licenses.

What will happen Friday morning at 9AM: IT will start removing the existing Mobile Management software from the Management cloud.  No employee has to come to IT for the software to be removed. This will take approximately two hours to remove from all SPIN iPhones.

Will I lose any emails, contact or calendar items?: No. All emails, calendar items and contacts will remain on the server   (in your Outlook) and will copy back down to the phone after the settings are reconfigured.

Why the short notice?: We have been negotiating with the current provider to lower the pricing, even if only a short time basis, but they are unwilling to budge.  We do apologize, but we were hopeful they would work with us.
