SPIN asks the Governor to "Keep Your Promise"

SPIN was well represented this afternoon at the "Keep Your Promise" Rally. SPIN individuals and staff traveled to Harrisburg to show their support at the Rally which was in protest of the Governor's proposed budget. The goal of the demonstration was to stop the cuts to services to Pennsylvania citizens with intellectual disabilities and autism.
This trip culminates a week’s worth of advocacy efforts staff, individuals, Board members and our community at large have participated in. Starting with Monday's phone call campaign to the Governor's office. The people who answered Governor Corbett's phone noted that they had received a number of calls from people saying that they were calling from SPIN.
On Tuesday the phone calls continued, this time to our state legislators. Once again we were asked to call our local representatives and ask for their help in restoring proposed cuts that will directly affect families who have sons and daughters with intellectual disabilities and autism.
These opportunities are so important for us to spread the word about what these cuts mean not only to the people we support but also to us as staff of this organization and the people we do business with. To have the individuals be able to speak up for themselves is the most powerful message of all.
These efforts will continue beyond today.
Below we would like to share with you a video produced by another local agency that speaks to the importance of reminding the Governor that he made a promise to all of us when he was running for office. Please check out their video.
