I acted and behold, service was joy.” -Rabindranath Tagore We have the good fortune of being in the “people business,” a profession of service where we focus on bringing out the best in each other. The 495 Direct Support Professionals in Adult Services are at the heart of our mission supporting others everyday to lead self-directed lives. DSPs support, teach and inspire people to learn new skills, take risks, find jobs, make friends, connect with their families, pursue dreams and aspirations and become inclusive members of the community. The United States Senate designated the week of September 8, 2008 as National Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week to honor our DSP Workforce. In the spirit of this recognition, we are planning a week of celebration at SPIN to acknowledge and congratulate our Direct Support Professionals. Many activities are planned, some of the happenings next week include: o Home Visits and NCC Visits: Look forward to company! Senior Management, Corporate Staff, Corporate Officers and Board Members will be making a planned visit to all residential homes and the Norcom Community Center throughout the week to express our gratitude and appreciation to you! o Web Portal: Stay tuned on the Web Portal for gratitude letters and a special thank you video montage of our DSPs in action! (This could be you!) o Green Ribbons: SPIN Management and Support Staff will be wearing green ribbons throughout the week in honor of the DSPs and to show our support. o Special Citations: You are invited to a special presentation on Thursday September 11, 2008 at the Norcom Community Center in the theatre at 3:30 PM. Councilwoman Joan Krajewski prepared a Citation from the City of Philadelphia which will be read by one of our County Representatives. In addition, David Losinno, CEO will read a special Corporate Resolution prepared by the SPIN Board of Directors to honor our DSPs. Refreshments will be served from 3:00 – 5:00 PM.
