Notice to SPIN Employees about the January 22 – 25, 2016 Snowstorm
This information is provided to clarify how SPIN
is managing pay status, lateness and leave time
related to the 1/22-1/25/16 snowstorm
Pay Status: The state of emergency began at 12:00am on 1/23/16 and continued for 48 hours through 12:00am on 1/25/16. Any union employee who worked during these 48 hours will be compensated at one and one-half (1 ½) times their regular rate of pay for all hours worked.
Lateness: An amnesty for lateness infractions is in place from 12am on 1/23 through 12am on 1/26 (lateness amnesty ends as of the shift beginning 8am on 1/26/16)
Leave Time: For staff who were unable to work all or part of their shift due to program closures on 1/25/16: Please talk to your manager; some of you will need to take leave time for hours not worked, some may need to report to work on a scheduled “down day” (Children’s Services only).
State of emergency pay status: Is limited to two days per calendar year and covers any and all government “States of Emergency” including other types of potential events (i.e. hurricanes). Residential Services has now experienced their two days. Other programs have two days still remaining in the event another “state of emergency” event happens. Subsequent days, in excess of two per year, that SPIN closes program or office sites due to snow or other events will require the use of leave time for affected employees and will be paid at straight time for those who work.
