Possible SEPTA Strike
10/31/14
Dear Fellow SPIN Employee,
If you are a SEPTA traveler, you may be aware that there is the possibility of a SEPTA strike on 11/4/14 at 12 am. We understand that SEPTA management and union are scheduled to meet over the weekend and that the union has also agreed to provide 24 hours notice to commuters in the event of as strike. We are asking all of you who rely on SEPTA for your commute to do the following:
1. Make arrangements with co-workers, friends or family if possible to assist you in getting to and from work in the event of a strike.
2. If you are unable to make arrangements for a ride to and from work, notify your immediate supervisor or on-call supervisor that you need support to get to and from work. Inform your Supervisor if you are near a train line (see #3).
3. The regional rails will be running even if there is a strike and we are planning to pick up and drop off from the Torresdale and Washington Lane train stations to our locations. Please call one of the following people to let them know in advance that you will be at one of these two stations for a pick up and when you may need a ride back to the station after work.
Sat and Sun. from 8a – 10pm, call:
Michelle Davis: 267-784-9520
Weekdays and Weekends from 10p – 8am, call:
David Elker: 267-784-9433
Weekdays from 6:30a – 3:30p, call:
Greg Cannon: 267-784-9568
Backup, call:
Bob Lutts: 267-784-7724
4. Your supervisor will work with SPIN Community Access and our on-call Supervisors and other resources to arrange a way for you to get to and from work if at all possible.
In the interest of everyone’s safety, please make sure you have your SPIN ID with you if you are getting into a SPIN van that is transporting from the train stations and make sure that you know for certain that you are getting into a vehicle that is being driven by a SPIN employee.
We will be monitoring the news and will post any SEPTA updates that are relevant and verified.
Thank you for doing all that you can to arrive to work as scheduled.
Please be careful and take care,
Kathy
