If you were one of those lucky enough to be at the Emerald Room in Northeast Philly Friday night February 21st it was a night you will long remember! It was not just another fabulous SPIN LIVE event; it was the best ever SPIN LIVE event! The energy generated by the gathering of over 400 SPIN employees, people in service and supporters was contagious as raucous applause greeted Chris Wasieczko and Ray Jackson and their band that kicked the night off.  The SPIN Choir performing, Katy Perry’s “Roar” fit the moment to a tee as they dedicated the song to the Metzger family. Stu Franks and his band performed a fabulous set of tunes from the 70’s that was a terrific lead up to what was to come next.

Mikki Kornegay, our headliner, was back for our fifth year! Performing with the SPIN LIVE Band.  Mikki, as always, either brings tears to our eyes or gets us up dancing like no one else can! Frank Margerum reprised his role as 80’s and 90’s rocker and then came back to perform with Mikki for the finale set. Members of the fabulous SPIN LIVE Band include Robert Johnson, Glenn Kornegay, Chris Kornegay, Ebony Kornegay,Latoya Keyes Kornegay, Carla Higgins.  Also a part of the band is Andrew Lynch, who's played lead guitar for five years, Tom Morrison, who's played for four and brings an immense amount of musicality to the ensemble and Mike McGeary and Kim HartmanJenny Hughes and Helene Lynch were also featured back-up singers that night. The highlight of the night for this writer was Mikki’s rendition of Tina Turner’s classic “Proud Mary”. The room was rockin! And our own Bea Cooper celebrated her 30th Anniversary as a treasured and dedicated SPIN employee as she danced the night away with wonderful friends!

Among the dancers and enjoyers of the evening were Judy, Joan, Bob and Arlen from our Lehigh Services, coming all the way from Bethlehem for a great night! Of course we also had fun choosing which basket to put our tickets in as the auction items were so exciting. Everyone also seemed to greatly enjoy the food and the bar.

Most of all it was an evening to celebrate the deep friendships and love we all share at SPIN. There is no better way than to do it with fabulous music, dancing, food and a great night out after all the snow and ice we’ve endured!

Thanks to Mindy, Megan, Jenny, Devon, Terry, and Emily for organizing and running this great event and to all our performers and all who came out to make SPIN LIVE at 5 (years) the amazing success it was!
