SPIN Family,

What started as a mere conversation on September 12th,2014 about one of our employees who lost several members of her family to Ebola in Liberia, where she is from, grew into a much larger discussion among our managers of how the epidemic was completely ravaging the West African region where many in our workforce hail from. Empowered with the SPIN Pillars those employees secured a meeting with Judy Dotzman, Frank Brown and I on September 17th to explore how SPIN can make a difference. That exploratory session sparked a series of meetings that gave rise to the SPIN United Coalition and laid the ground work for its mission. The SPIN United Coalition was created to address any pressing and prevailing matters that are having an impact in the local, national or international community that is also having a direct impact on our workforce. In this instance, SPIN United Coalition intends to promote awareness, provide support and raise funding to support the global initiative to eradicate Ebola.

SPIN United Coalition has dedicated November 17th– November 21st as a week of awareness. Each day we will be providing much needed and important education about Ebola. Also, we are raising funds to be donated to Doctors without Borders through a 50/50 sale, Raffle Basket sales and T-shirt sales. In addition, much needed support resources will be provided throughout the week, especially geared to members of our workforce whose families in West Africa are dealing with Ebola. Please read the information on the portal and plan to come to the Norcom Community Center on Thursday, November 20th any time from 12:00-3:00 pm and join the SPIN United Coalition for an Ebola Free World.

In true SPIN style, what started as a small group of concerned people emerged into a concerted initiative for action. Those initial employees who decided that indifference wasn’t an option and who serve as a catalyst for change are: Alvina Smith, Abdul Hassan, Tara Tettefio, Nancy Kennedy, Francis Sesay, Gbenah Lappia, Rena Wilson, Amelia Scell, Semukahn Togba, Wilson Nijiru and Thomas Jackson.

We would like to say thank you to them for extending our Pillars across the globe.

Guidance,

Ram
