HR Confidential

HR Confidential July 2011 - September 2011

Nov 7, 2011

Dear Sunny, Lou, Edna, Christine, Stephanie, Lauren and Bridget,

What does it take to launch and execute a fantastically successful new charitable event for SPIN?  It takes expert organizers and planners, energized self-starters, talented networkers and a dynamic team who works together toward a common goal and never quits…in other words, it takes the fabulous Team of HR Confidential Staff!  This committed impassioned team set out to accomplish three things many months ago:

  1. Raise awareness of SPIN to a new group of stakeholders
  2. Raise awareness that the HR Department is more than a place to discuss your benefits and to come for training
  3. Raise money to support adults in our residential services

These goals were all achieved at the highest level when the SPIN Human Resources Team hosted the first annual SPIN Softball Tournament on September 18th!  In the months leading up to the event this tireless team volunteered countless hours to make it a spectacular success in every way.

Behind the scenes the team members found sponsors, sold raffle tickets, ordered t-shirts and pulled together all manner of friend and family to play on a team…. everyone was committed to achieving the goals for this event.  When the day of the event finally arrived on a beautiful September Sunday, the HR team could be found throughout the event still organizing, selling, and making everyone feel welcome and great about supporting our worthy charity. The message of our organization was loud and clear throughout the day: SPIN creates and supports a life of possibility and we have fun doing it!

Because of this committed, dedicated team each goal for the event was completed with much success.  Over 200 people played on the 16 softball teams and 85% of the players were new to SPIN. Many of the attendees pledged to become friends for life!  As noted by their managers, “the HR team stepped up and out and was recognized by many other departments as a team that really cares about what happens in SPIN.  And most exciting…….this team raised over $10,000!”
