Labor Management Team — April - June 2006
Apr 1, 2006
If this were a report card, I would give you all an A+ and
comment that you exceeded expectations! When you were asked to
participate in the joint Labor/Management workgroup to design
outcome-based position profiles and performance evaluations for CBU
positions, you knew that it was a six-month commitment and that the
task before you would be arduous and demanding. You all accepted
willingly the tremendous responsibility that this team was about to
undertake.
You began in January on a weekly basis to meet the very tight
timelines. In order to have everyone on the same page, you
completed a comprehensive review of all of the material that had
been gathered to help you. I saw that packet and know that you must
have felt overwhelmed at first; however, you understood the outcome
focus for supporting individuals at SPIN was a necessary starting
place for your charge. Over the next several weeks, you developed
the shared accountabilities of the "SPIN Direct Service Employee,"
the mission, accountabilities, competencies and other key
components of the position profile for the four major CBU positions
in the agency, and then you were halfway finished.
Your next task was the development of a Performance Evaluation
process. Your commitment to make this process meaningful and
enhancing to all parties was admirable. You wanted a product that
assured that SPIN employees were actively engaged in best
practices, was outcome-driven and provided support for continuous
quality improvement. Unbelievably, you finished this phase of the
project ahead of schedule.
Implementation is just ahead and all of you have volunteered to be
part of the planning team to develop the necessary training and to
participate as trainers. I know your colleagues will benefit
greatly from your knowledge and deep commitment to SPIN's
outcome-based approach, your leadership and your high level of
motivation. You will inspire others!
Thank you so much for your diligent work. The Board of Directors,
your fellow employees and all of the individuals we support thank
you and want you to know that we appreciate your significant
accomplishment.
Sincerely,
Trina Losinno
Executive Director
