Dear Team Members,
Starfish poem
As the old man walked the beach at dawn, he noticed a young man
ahead
of him picking up starfish and flinging them into the sea. Finally,
catching
up with the youth, he asked him why he was doing this. The answer
was
that the stranded starfish would die if left until the morning sun.
"But the
beach goes on for miles and there are millions of starfish,"
countered the
other. "How can your effort make any difference?" The young man
looked
at the starfish in his hand and then threw it safely in the wave.
"It makes a
difference to this one," he said.
Joe Cammarota may be the luckiest man alive due to you and the
effort you make to assure that his quality of life is the best it
can be. Joe has been on the brink of not recovering from a variety
of medical issues many times and each time you just seem to love
him back to better health. Your support recently resulted in his
being dismissed from hospice services for a second time. You spent
time hoping for the best but preparing for the worst; assessing
Joe's quality of life and adjusting your personal perspectives to
be able to support his needs; you've held back tears and breathed
many sighs of relief whenever he came through another bout. Joseph
Cammarota, at age 83 is with us today because of your dedication to
him, the mission of SPIN, Inc. and the outstanding values you all
embrace as a team.
You were recognized by the Holy Redeemer Hospice Team with a
Certificate of Achievement for the care you have given to Joe and
today it is my pleasure to honor you as Team of the Quarter. Our
Board of Directors, your colleagues, the Health Services team and
of course Joe are proud of you, both as individuals and as a team.
You are incredible role models for all of us.
Sincerely,
Trina Losinno
Executive Director
