Dear Napfle Team Members,
When referring to a Team of Teams one would assume that this
refers to a Championship team. But what makes a team a championship
team? Many championship teams have the following common
characteristics: have a steadfast belief in each other, promote
honest communication, have a satisfaction with their position on
the team, possess openness toward coaching input, establish clear
goals and outcomes, show unity and courage and pay attention to
detail. Kim Williams in her Team of the Quarter nomination letter
hails Napfle as the Team of Teams for all these reasons and
more!
In November, 2008, two gentlemen were transitioning out of a
restrictive institution, where they lived for 19 years, to be
supported in the community by SPIN. Marc and Terry had unique and
challenging needs and we needed right fit staff to provide the best
services and supports for this dynamic duo. This hand selected team
attended numerous trainings on Autism, met the challenges with
optimism and committed individually and as a team to implement
person centered supports for Marc and Terry. Kim states in her
letter "you can see the transformation Marc and Terry have made
knowing that the team is here to support them in all aspects of
their lives and that this structure is not temporary, it's home."
Each member of this team demonstrates their loyalty to Marc and
Terry and each other during hectic days by keeping the atmosphere
fun and providing consistent, caring support. The guys are enjoying
outings, vacations, and other interests that support their
achievement of their personal outcomes.
It is our pleasure to recognize this wonderful Napfle team
including Joseph Mitchell, Karey Windley, Emmitt Brayboy, Kenneth
Gales, Eric Hairston, John Sawbo, Jarvee Finney and Dominic
Wonokay.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, the SPIN workforce and most
importantly, Marc and Terry, thank you for being a Team of Teams
that is by all means a Championship Team and because of your hard
work and dedication, everyone is a winner.
Sincerely,
Judith R. Dotzman
