Real Property "Snow Team" — January - March 2010

Jan 1, 2010

Dear Team Members,

As you certainly remember, Mother Nature threw one of her biggest parties ever by dumping over 80 inches of snow on Philadelphia in the first three months of 2010. At first it was pretty and fun and because there was so much snow, it was even awesome. But the novelty quickly wore off and the inconvenience of it all became wearisome for everyone, especially you.

Of course, the Real Property snow removal team needed to clean up after this "party" so a plan of attack was developed and executed. The commercial building lots were all plowed clear while snow blowers and shovels cut deep footpaths, then everything was salted to maintain safety. All this before anyone arrived for their normal work day. This means that seven commercial sites and 73 residential homes were all cleared on the same day, times three events. In between shoveling and plowing you replenished salt and other snow supplies to be prepared for "next time." We're sure there were a few groans and grumbles at three or four in the morning as each team member faced the daunting task ahead of them; but, it was good cheer and frozen smiles while the job was getting done.

It is a pleasure to recognize and honor the "snow" team: James Heron, Jonathon Losinno, Leonard Lutts, John Parker, and Joseph Fulginiti. The Board of Directors, all SPIN employees, and the people who depend on us for support thank you for being there for us this winter.
Of course everyday emergencies and routine maintenance still needed to be done and the "snow" team was there too. We and they are grateful to the "inside" team: Charlie Young, Van Tran, Eric Karch and Marcia Bowden for doing extra while they were out in the snow.

While this recognition usually highlights non-management teams who go above and beyond expectations in carrying out the mission of SPIN, Inc., this was an extraordinary circumstance. I'm sure that everyone will agree that this special recognition also needs to be extended to the leadership of this team. They all worked side-by-side, snow shovel-to-snow shovel to get the job done. Thanks also to Ron Becker, Chuck Catalano, Ellen Becker, George Geissel, Tom Hession, Buff Jones, Mike Levitt and Will Wetzel for providing the support and motivation to your entire team under grueling conditions. You all sure know the meaning of the phrase, "Where there's a will, there's a way."

Sincerely,

Trina Losinno
Executive Director
