Watson — April - June 2008

Moving to a new home, like all change, can be good or bad
depending on a person's perspective. Even if moving is a happy,
exciting event, it is still a great deal of work and is often
considered in the top 10 of stressors. So add into that mix the
three unique ladies who lived at Ripley and found a need to move to
a new home.
One of the ladies had to move due to accessibility issues but was
unsure she really wanted to; another, had difficult memories of
having to move in her past and the third was just uncomfortable
with the whole idea. A new home was located here on Watson Street
and the staff and ladies all began the many tasks of relocating.
The fun part was helping each lady pick out the color she wanted
her new bedroom to be; the hard part was packing and constantly
reassuring the ladies that moving was going to work out just
fine.
On moving day, the teamwork of Gloria, Linda, Patsy, Tamera,
Shannon, LaKesha, Tracey, Desiree and Dianna was evident. Their
long hours of sorting and packing the household yielded way too
many boxes to count along with furniture and clothes all waiting
for the movers. The team then went to work unpacking and settling
the ladies' bedrooms and the rest of the house so that Nancy, Betty
Ann and Sheila would be able to sleep in their beds and feel at
home when they awoke the next morning.
It took a huge effort, much teamwork and patience galore but the
end result is that the ladies are together, thrilled with their new
home and very happy that they have staff who care so deeply about
them.
Congratulations to all of you!
